SLIDE 2: text: “We train and support the volunteers who advocate in court for Washington DC’s foster children”
Speaker 1 (Summer Hecht, Senior Manager, Clinical): CASA stands for "Court Appointed Special Advocate" and our CASA volunteers, they provide excellent advocacy and mentorship to youth in the foster care system.
Speaker 2 (James Fleming, Program Manager, FTC): A lot of these children are missing that one consistent adult figure.
Speaker 3 (Seetal Parikh-Chopra, Deputy Director of Programs): And that is exactly where CASA comes in.
Speaker 4 (Brandon Garrett, Program Manager, MAP): There's so much that they've seen and experienced in their young lives.
Speaker 5 (Patrice Stern, BRIDGES Program Assistant): They are resilient and still moving forward.
Speaker 3 (Seetal Parikh-Chopra, Deputy Director of Programs): The youth start to warm up and say, I actually know my CASA is going to be around.
Speaker 6 (Alexandra Fields, Program Manager, BRIDGES): I've heard from judges that the one report that they really focus on is that CASA report.
SLIDE 3: text “Children with a CASA volunteer are half as likely to re-enter the foster care system”.
Speaker 1 (Summer Hecht, Senior Manager, Clinical): CASA volunteers do things like going for walks, participating in cultural activities.
Speaker 7 (Allison Kahn-Pauli, Chief of Staff): I had a CASA take a youth to a petting zoo around Halloween and he told the CASA after that it was the best day of his life.
Speaker 8 (Arika Orozco, Executive Director): A donation absolutely helps us change children's lives.
Speaker 9 (Courtney Gutierrez, Volunteer Manager): Look at it as investing into the D.C. community.
