In Jan 2020 when Covid-19 spread from China to Vietnam, our local partner who was helping us to build two kindergarten schools near northern China-Vietnam border asked if we could send masks to save the students. Then America only had a few cases in Seattle, and no one knew masks would become the most precious personal protection equipment. By Apr, Covid-19 completely rattled the American healthcare supply chain, and it seemed like the world largest economy was about to collapse because it doesn't have enough 10-cent masks to save American lives.
After funded 63 projects in Vietnam and the Philippine, for the very first time we asked Vietnam to help us with masks to save our healthcare professionals. Beyond our wildest dreams, many Vietnam project leaders collected 10,000 masks together and got permission to ship them to us BaSF HQ. We in tern donate our customized 3-layer, reusable, comfort-to-wear to frontline staff in hospitals, nursing homes, animal shelters, homeless shelters, Girl Scout of America, Rotary International clubs, and more… all over the country.
We certainly can’t tell how many lives we saved and how many families we kept them together. The most rewarding comments are the ones we got from nurses who wore N95 masks all days and experienced a lot of breakouts. Hence, they love our breathable, washable, comfortable masks that helped them saving lives with less personal discomfort. What a happy ending to a year full of grieves, and reminds us that kindness has no border, especially from the people we are least expected. On that note, we thank our CFC contributors because without your generosity, we couldn’t have developed these wonderful relationships to support each other’s.
